In this installment of eBay Sellers Tips and Tricks I want to share with you a technique to boost your eBay listings and get ahead of your competition.
This technique requires you to have an eBay store already but if you are selling multiple items you should have one already as it’s cheaper than having lots of individual listings.
The key is to never let your listing end, it sounds strange but it can be done quite simply, once you have an eBay store one of the multi-item listing options you have is “Good Till Cancelled” This means that your listing will remain active until you cancel it yourself or all of the stock has been sold.
The secret behind how this works is that every time you sell something eBay gives that item a little more relevance in your niche, in other words eBay thinks the more an items sells must mean that its popular and relevant to that search term so if it sells allot then it will give it more visibility in the search results.
So if we have 10 items for sale in this listing, what would normally happen is that at some point all ten items would sell and the listing would be complete, the seller would order more stock and re-list the auction listing.
But what we want to do is keep that listing from ending, so when it gets down to the last few items you need to re order the stock, if the listing gets down to just one item before the re ordered stock arrives then you need to ensure that the last one doesn’t sell. The best way to do this is to raise the price beyond any reasonable level so potential buyers will look elsewhere for that item, make sure its allot more expensive than the competition.
Once the new stock arrives you can put the price back down to what it was originally and then update the quantity to the new level. So now the listing is still live with the 10 sold items but with a fresh stock of 10 or more to sell, if you do this each time the listing will just build and build in sold items, and could have hundreds of sold items on the same active listing.
This way your listing will be much more relevant in eBay’s eyes than others sellers who have just listed a new auction and therefore will place higher in the search results.. And there we have a boosted eBay listing..
