Terapeak – An eBay Seller’s Best Friend

Today, we’re reviewing the online research and informational tool called Terapeak, and learning how it can help you to improve your online business.

Terapeak is the #1 tool I use regularly, because it helps me to research new businesses, find new products, and refine the titles and keywords for my current business. I think of it as a jack-of-all-trades tool for selling online, so I wholeheartedly recommend you have this tool in your arsenal, because it will make a big difference.

You can get a free seven-day trial of it from the Terapeak website if you’d like to give it a shot before purchasing. Past the trial period, it’s $30 (or about £18 for those of you in the UK) – it’s not cheap, but it’s not expensive for the value you’re getting. If you’re not making what you’re paying for your subscription, you’re using Terapeak the wrong way.

I used Terapeak and its data to build and entirely new business. When I started researching my latest business, I thought I knew all there was to know about men’s clothing (which is what I sell), but Terapeak exposed me to so many new popular brands. I’d say I tripled the amount of brands in my store using Terapeak, which of course leads to new sales. But Terapeak isn’t just limited to clothes – it could apply to any market.

Terapeak is the only company with direct access to the eBay market research data. It’s basically a massive data-crunching machine. Put in a few variables, and it’ll give you facts about what’s going on over on eBay in regards to those keywords.

If you follow this link, it’ll take you to the Terapeak homepage. If you sign up for your subscription, you’ll have access to the app on your phone, much like the one you ought to see on the Terapeak homepage. Take this into the field with you as you’re buying new products so you’ll have every piece of data needed in the palm of your hand.

Click on the button that says, “Try Terapeak for free”, and it’ll take you to a page with the header, “Start your 7 day free trial and begin researching instantly”. You’ve got a few option from here. If you’re in the US, you’ll be set to use eBay.com, which is the default site listed as an option in the dropdown bar in the column under the $29.95/month option, but if you’re not in the US, make sure to select your own country to get data relevant to your country’s version of eBay. If you’ve got the $239.40 at the moment, you could opt to be billed for a whole year at once, which will save you about 50% of the price. From here, it will ask for your personal details.

Using my account, let’s take a look at what it looks like on the inside (well, as much as I can, since it is a paid website).

There’s a notification on my account that let’s me know that Terapeak now offers data from Amazon as well as eBay, which is awesome. I sell on Amazon, and there’s plenty of money in that. I haven’t personally gone through that new feature yet, but I can just about promise that it will be awesome, and I’ll do another video and blog post when I go through it. For now, let’s check out the eBay side of things.

On the top menu bar, you’ve got options for “Product Research”, “Competitor Research”, “Category Research”, “Hot Research”, “My Research”, and “Title Builder”. Just below these options is a search bar, in which you can insert your current eBay titles. It tells you, “This site researches 55 million auction titles worldwide to help you build a more profitable eBay title. Enter some keywords and press ‘go’ to receive suggestions to add to your title that will improve the performance of your listing.” This uses real facts and data to help you improve your titles.

The “My Research” tab keeps track of the sellers and keywords you’re keeping and eye on, and it’ll give you their latest data, which you can export to CSV or Excel format. You could also have it email you a summary report weekly to keep you up to date on what’s going on with these people or keywords. This helps you to monitor your niche in an organized way, helping you spot and anticipate changes in real time

In the “Hot Research” tab, you can examine hot categories, media, products, keywords, and titles, as well as rankings for the current month and previous month.

In the “Category Research” tab, you have marked and color-coded information about specific categories and the items selling in them. This allows you to hone in on what’s the hottest category before you even get started selling, to avoid selling unwanted products in cold categories and keywords. You can use this tool to find something that sells well without a lot of competition, which will optimize your own personal sales.

Over in the “Competitor Research” tab, you find people selling similar items, plug their details into this tool, and you can see what they’re selling. If you’re going to look around eBay for the type of things you’re selling, find the sellers with the massive feedback and selling lots of stuff. Stick their username in this tool, and your eyes will be opened to all their details – how much they’re making, how much they’re selling, their best-selling products, which day of the week they sell the most, which time of the day they sell the most, and everything else you could wish to know. Finding a popular product you’re unfamiliar with by way of this tool helps you to know what to do your product research on. I’ve personally had great success with these tools.

Finally, you’ve got the “Product Research” tab. If you’re using the mobile app, you’ll see this big search box by default. You can set when the tool should search, and it tells you what’s been going on for the product you’ve plugged in during the set amount of time. Terapeak used “Starwars Lego” for the past week for their example, so I do the same in the video to try and avoid Terapeak being angry with me for giving too much away. Using this tool, you can see the average price for the item, the highest price, the starting price, the average shipping costs, how many listings there were, how many of those listings sold, which days of the week the product sold the best, how many sold at what time of day, the average listing duration, listing promotions, listing types, categories it was listed under, and some general statistics about the item and how it’s selling. You can refine your search to graphical views, information about the top-sellers for this product (and then put their information into the aforementioned “Competitor Research” tab). If you’ve got a search you’d like to keep an eye on, you have the option to pin it so you can access it regularly from the “My Research” tab.

There’s a lot of money to be made on eBay, and you can tap into that by using this wonderfully helpful tool. Don’t leave anything about your business open to chance; assure that you’ll be making money by using Terapeak.

I’ll be doing an advanced guide in the future, but this is more of a show-and-tell so you can see how powerful this tool is. I wholeheartedly advise you check out the video below for the visual walkthrough of what you’ve read about the wonderful features of Terapeak. In the video, we actually click through the website, and if you’d like to supplement simply reading about what it can do, watch the video below.

How You Can Protect & Grow Your Business At The Same Time

After reading a shared post on Facebook this week I was inspired to write about a very valuable lessen I learned a few years ago and have been benefiting from ever since.

The best and worst thing about the internet is that it’s always changing, it’s constantly evolving and in marketing terms we’re on the forefront of the latest technologies are we’re able to harness the great power it holds. This is what gets me up every morning and looking forward to learning new things and developing my own techniques.

Unfortunately this is also the reason why great selling channels can disappear overnight, why a great source of traffic can dry up in a blink of an eye and why we have to make sure that we spread the risk and ensure we protect our business from these risks.

[showmyads]

Let me give you a few examples of what can happen. Many people have made millions by creating product based or affiliate websites that are optimized for organic search traffic and Google has obliged and sent a solid stream of traffic to these type of sites, I have owned these in the past and some have become the authority site in their niche and I have enjoyed allot of success with them.

They can make some site owners literally thousands a day on complete auto pilot with little or no input from the owners. This is as good as it gets until Google decides to update their search algorithm and millions of sites drop into cyber oblivion and the traffic just stops, their income also stops as abruptly as the traffic and their once golden site or sites are now pretty much worthless. This happens on a fairly frequent basis and if this is your only source of income you’re up a certain creek without any means of propulsion.

Let me give you an eBay related example, about 4 – 5 years ago I had a very successful fully automated eBay business selling info products of all different kinds. Business guides, ‘how to’ guides, car maintenance guides you name it I had a info product to help you. These guides sold very well on eBay for just a few pounds and were delivered automatically after purchase via email.  This was a PowerSeller account with over 900+ feedback and life was good until one day eBay decided that some sellers were using this type of product to manipulate feedback by selling items at 1 penny and simply exchanging positive feedback. For this reason eBay pulled the plug on all digital products being sold on eBay and so my perfect passive income disappeared along with many other eBay sellers.

Facebook is another recent example, when they introduced their ‘promote your posts’ feature a great deal of online marketers lost as much as 75% of their free traffic. This stuff just happens and if you have a great source of traffic, or sales or products you can’t always guarantee that they will be available tomorrow or next week or next year  so we need to plan for the worst and make our business stronger and better as a result.

 THE PLAN..

This is the first lesson I learned and is something that I believe is in my top 5 all time important lessons learned online:

DO NOT RELY ON JUST ONE SOURCE  – This can be a traffic source, income source or product source, if you do you are leaving yourself vulnerable to said source stopping and thus becoming sad and bitter. (not good)

We can spread the risk by simply ensuring we have two other sources of traffic, income or product, that way if one dries up we are still in business. This is generally a good idea because even if you have a good source of traffic having two more sources means more traffic which is a good thing in any case.

BUILD A LIST – This is a something that has tripled my income over the last few years, if you build a customer list or a list of prospects then you can really insulate yourself from outside factors as you will have your own source of repeat business and sales. A customer is so much more likely to buy from you again as they have already shown you a commitment and you also know what you are interested in as they have just given you a big clue by buying something.

Keep in touch using an email newsletter, offer them relevant deals on related products or services and you will get more sales. What’s more, if Google was turned off tomorrow you would still have your own dependable community of targeted traffic to sell to and interact with thus preventing the sadness and bitterness. (a good thing)

In order to build a decent sized list we need to use a list hosting and mailing service, this is because if you try to email a few hundred or thousand people from you own mail client you will be accused of spamming them and that can get your internet shut down so not a good idea. A list hosting service allows you to enroll subscribers properly so that they click to agree to be on the list and therefore cannot shout spam as they have volunteered to be on your list. They also have some great tools to help you email out and track your stats. I use Aweber Communications they are in my option the best on the market and only $19 per month after a 30 free trial.

BUILD A COMMUNITY – Once you have a list If you then link that in with a few different sources of traffic from social media channels you will never be ruled by just one master, you will have a protected and more profitable business as a result.

So if you’re rocking Facebook right now make sure you take a little time to tweet or pin some images on Pinterest. If you’re the tweet king then maybe you can build a Facebook like page and interact with a totally different community.

This stuff doesn’t need to dominate your time, just 5 – 10 minutes each day or every other day would be enough to build some traction and as you start to interact with other users they will help you build visibility and that’s when things start to build momentum and you will have yourself another great traffic and sales channel.

You can make a start right now by liking this article or tweeting it using the social buttons below. 🙂

Facebook Ads Can Transform Your Online Business

If you run any type of online business be it an eBay shop, Amazon store or eCommerce website you can make a massive impact on your traffic levels and ultimately on your sales with facebook ads.

Most people online these days will have a facebook profile, a little space about you and your family, a place to share holiday photos and for many a place to keep in touch with friends and organishe social events.

Facebook is the most sticky site on the planet, this means it’s the place that people come back to over and over again, many log-in to their account every day and many log-in several times a day. The total time spent on the site is also very high, many users leave it open all day minimised on their desktop and keep checking back every now and then.

For advertisers this gives a great opportunity to connect with Facebook users they are relaxed and focused while on  this site, they pay attention which is allot more then most would do during  TV adverts or with Google ads at the side of a search page, we’re just there for long enough, we search and then we leave, we’re not paying attention to the ads, they are just background noise.

Facebook ads however are a different thing altogether, they are right there all the time that the users are logged in and so the chance of someone absorbing the ad and clicking on it are many times greater.

But wait.. There’s even more! When we set up a facebook profile, we fill in a series of forms to explain a little about ourselves, where we went to school, which area we live, what our hobbies are, what music we like, which football team we support. The more we use the site the more we let facebook know about us, we click a like button on a particular page, we join a group of frineds that like Apple products for example. Are you getting the idea now? Facebook knows a whole heap of stuff about a whole heap of people and if you we want to tell people about what we have to offer facebook knows who’s interested!

When you create a facebook ad you can define exactly which groups of people you want to see your ad. If you were selling retro games you can specify males aged between 25 -35 who like Nintendo. If you were selling iPhone chargers you could specify users aged under40 and those that own an iphone, like apple products. You can really zone right into your target audience and drop your product under their nose, this selectivity teamed up with the length of time users spend on the site means those ads are going to be some of the most effective ways to drive traffic to your site on the internet, and you only pay for people that click through to your store or site.

As online advertisers we now have access to the potential traffic numbers  that were only accessible to big corporate giants that had hundreds of thousands of pounds to invest in TV advertising. Now all of us has the chance to target our chosen audience with laser guided precision and even on a budget. You can set up maximum spend limits on your account and you can start advertising for just pennies per click.

Facebook will continue to give companies and products extraordinary targeted access to its over 175 million potential customer base and growing, however the rules have changed!

Mmuch of what you may have learned about Facebook social media promotion online, has or will rapidly become obsolete.

But now you can receive immediate access to the most up-to-date, comprehensive and forward thinking strategies in a brand new, easy to follow and to-the-point, video tutorial format!

The newest FB Income System™ is designed to make it super simple for you or anyone to design a complete
Facebook social media campaign – the most productive, today, and for the longest foreseeable future!

changes..  Click Here to get the FB Income Video Tutorial Series
